THE FIRST PROMOTION OF 2008

Something must be special when even the gods mark the occasion with a rare spring snow storm.  It might have been cold outside but inside the dojo, the temperature was high from the heat generated by all those who took the promotion test.

For the older members, this may have been their fifth or sixth test so they were prepared and know what to expect.  For others, this was a brand new experience and also a time to be nervous. [Click here for the full story]

LOWER MAINLAND KARATE COMES TOGETHER

Saturday, March 8: The 35th Steveston International Karate Tournament is one the largest competitions of the year. This year, it seems that in most categories, participation was up.  This is great news for the karate community.

Both the Vancouver and Richmond dojos have been busily preparing for the tournament and by Saturday, everyone was as ready as ever.  This year, we are sending a large contingent of students and the result was fantastic!

For some, this is one of their first tournaments and predictably, many were both nervous and excited at the same time.......

RECENT HIGHLIGHTS

RCCS DOJO IN RICHMOND

Our new dojo is located at the Richmond Chinese Community Society (Richmond, BC). This dojo is now training on a regular basis: every Tuesday 7:00pm to 9:00pm; and Saturday 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Any ages and levels are welcome. For more information, please call 604-377-2833 or 604-716-6266.

JAPAN HONBU INFORMATION

NEW LOOK, SAME HIGH STANDARDS

Just finished in December 2006, Japan Shoseikan Honbu dojo now features its own cafe for Shoseikan members and their family and friends. The newly designed entrance is in the front is both bright and welcoming. The renovation team did an outstanding job. Congratulations, Japan Honbu!
