2007 PROMOTION TEST #1

The big day that the students have either been looking forward to or dreading has finally come!  Friday, April 27 was examination day for the members hoping to move up a kyu. Most students have been through a promotional test before but this is very much different. Along with Shibucho, the test was to be administered by experienced Shoseikan instructors, Hayashi Shihan and Kenji Sensei, both of Japan.

Both a sense of anticipation and excitement filled the dojo as the students started to arrive.  The members wanted to impress the visitors and also to prove to Shibucho that they have learned what they were taught. At the same time, performing in front of the whole dojo made everyone a bit more nervous than usual.  Top question on eveyone's mind was, "Will I pass?"

Nobody had to wait long to find out as the promotion presentation was one day later on Saturday, April 28.  We are glad to report that the examiners were very pleased with the efforts of all the students and everyone passed! A special congratulations to Tommy Cheung who went from 9 kyu to 7 kyu! Another congratulations to Vincent Wong and Andrew Chan who have earned their black belts and are now at the Shodan level!  Well done, everyone!  For more photos about this test and presentation, please click here.
