By Andrew Chan

I am grateful to have the opportunity to visit Shoseikan Honbu Dojo, Kobukai Dojo, Katsushika Dojos and Koto Dojo in Japan this fall. Many thanks to the hospitality of Kancho and his family, Hayashi Shihan and his family, Terada Sensei and his family.  They made us feel like home at the time staying with them. I did not have to worry anything because everything was there ready for us before we asked.  I just had to concentrate in my training before the Promotion Test.

The training was hard but beneficial to me. Training with Japanese students made me understand what are concentration, disciplines and well prepared. These are the parts that we currently do not have pay much attention to. I am sure that we can catch these up soon. After those extensive training, I finally got passed in the Promotion Test.  Thanks to Kancho and all the Shihans, who taught me a lot before and after the Test.

Apart from training, Kancho treated us to a Geisha party in Tokyo, which is normally only Japanese people can go to.  Terada Sensei and Yuki Senpai demonstrated in the Geisha party too.  Thanks to Hayashi Shihan, we visited the two temples, which are being posted in the Jinja of every dojo. Thanks to Terada Sensei, we saw the 19th World Karate Federation Championships in Tokyo. Movements of the athletes were fast in Kumite. Paces and story expression were well performed in Kata.  I was lucky that I had the opportunity to see the highest World Karate Federation standard in the Championships.
