From October 2nd to 15th, we had very sunny weather to shine through our three special guest from Japan. Hayashi Shihan, Terada Sensei & Toshi Senpai, has been staying in Vancouver and trained with us. During their visits in Canada we got to learn more details with japan training style which the students benefit the most.

During the 6 classes, we review some updated form of kihon and kata, with fun and challenging exercise to strengthen our balance & mind discipline.

On October 10th, the second promotion test of 2009 is being held at the newly renovated Shoseikan headquarter, hosted by our guest from Japan, Hayashi Shihan, Sunday Sensei, Terada Sensei, and Shibucho as the examiner.

Before the clock reaches 7pm, all students were scattered around the dojo to do some last minute practice. Some worried if they can do the correct posture, some practice on their Kata and others do some stretching & warm up.

Soon after the examination begin, the intense atmosphere of the dojo is started to heat up. Everyone sat down promptly waiting to be call out. Shibucho advise that this test will be very easy but difficult, he hope everyone will ease up their mind and concentrate on the karate spirit.

First part we start off with the lower belt and then the higher belt. While Senpai calling out the command, everyone is very concentrated on their dachi and kihon.

Second part is the Kata examination, Taikyoku Jordan & Taikyoku gedan no ni were the two main kata for all students. Following are Gekisai-Ichi & Gekisai-Ni, Seienchin & Sanseiru.

Most of the participant perform very well to impress the judge while some are nervous to begin with. Jiyu kumite are the final entertainment of the exam. All students are excited yet tired from the examination. The examination ended by a improvement speech made by all examiner.

Same day at around 6pm, after the promotion test we had a party for our guest in the dojo, We had very yummy food (Chicken wings, pork ribs, chow mein, spring rolls and gyoza) and drinks. Everyone had a great time with a full stomach at the end.

For our last training with Shihan & Sensei, the spirit and atmosphere we had in the dojo is overwhelming. Students are practicing like no tomorrow with sweats and tears on their body. All the hardwork we had will become one sweet & strong workout.

Hayashi Shihan's final words to all the shoseikan members, “I will be back & wish all can keep up the good karate-do spirit.”
